Day 1
Bogota City Tour with Monserrate
Tour start time: 8:30 a.m.
- Bogotá City Tour is the most complete way to see the relevant places of the city in one day. You will be guided by an expert guide who will teach you about the historical and current events in Colombia.
- Our first stop will be to explore the picturesque stone streets of La Candelaria. You will visit the Botero Museum, which features works by the eccentric artist who has become an icon of Colombian contemporary art, Fernando Botero. You will have a stop at Chorro de Quevedo to appreciate the various contrasts offered by the historic center and learn more about the history of Bogotá.
- After the walking tour of La Candelaria you will go to the Plaza de Bolívar; The main square of the city. This plaza is surrounded by administrative and government buildings that have been essential during various historical processes of the country that you will know through the guide.
- You will walk along Avenida Jiménez to visit an impressive collection of indigenous gold pieces at the Gold Museum. On the way out, you will have the opportunity to shop at the craft market in Santander Park.
- Finally you can visit the Monserrate Sanctuary located in the imposing eastern hills of the city at 3150 meters above sea level. Climbing up to the highest part of the hill by cable car, you will reach the most important pilgrimage point in the city, and one of the best viewpoints in the capital. This will be an optimal place to make a spatial and historical contextualization of the city.
