In the afternoon visit to the city of the kings. We will begin our tour through the Miraflores neighborhood. Our first stop will be the famous Kiss Park, an icon of the city and from where you have a beautiful view of the bay of Lima. Then we will go to the historic center of Lima, a UNESCO World Heritage Site , which awaits us full of stories from yesteryear. On the way we will cross in front of the Huaca Pucllana, a pre-Inca pyramid that is confused with a modern city. We will arrive at the Plaza Mayor of Lima, surrounded by the Cathedral, the Archbishopric of Lima, the Government Palaces and the Municipality. We will enter the Cathedral of Lima , where the crypt of the conqueror Francisco Pizarro is located. We will cross the Plaza Mayor and enter the Convent of Santo Domingo , a colonial architectural jewel where time seems to have stopped. In this place rest the remains of Santa Rosa de Lima, San Martín de Porres and San Juan Masías, saints of great devotion. Inside, we will find a large library that keeps books printed in the 15th century. The first university in America, San Marcos, was founded in this convent. We will leave the center of Lima, returning to the hotel.
We will get away from the crowds to visit Sacsayhuamán, an impressive ceremonial fortress full of colossal buildings surrounded by beautiful landscapes in total communion with the environment. Then, we will have a panoramic view of the Inca shrine of Qenqo, an ancient temple of the Puma that houses an altar for sacrifices. Finally we arrive at the Puca Pucará watchtower and Tambomachay, a monument of notable architectural excellence, considered one of the pillars of the Andean worldview.
The Sacred Valley of the Incas welcomes us this day, we will visit the traditional Pisac Market, where we will have free time to explore it and buy crafts. If you feel like trying something traditional, stop by the wood-fired bread and empanada ovens. We will have lunch at a restaurant in the area. In the afternoon, we will continue to Ollantaytambo, a picturesque town continuously inhabited since Inca times, where we will visit the temple of the same name, used as a fortress during the Inca resistance and from where we will obtain collection images.
