Macaw Clay Lick Day Tours
Tour start time: 3:00 AM
An exclusive program that gives you the opportunity to visit the largest macaw clay lick in the world in just one day.
Our departure is at 3:00 in the morning, we pick you up at your accommodation and take you in our mobility along the interoceanic highway in a journey of approximately 2 hours (48 km. Asphalt and 18 through the jungle) until we reach the Tambopata River, where our boat with an outboard motor will wait for you and take you for an hour and a half to the heart of the Tambopata National Reserve
To get to the largest macaw clay lick .
The CHUNCHO clay lick, where hundreds of parrots and macaws gather to eat clay as a supplement to their daily diet and do so on the side of the Tambopata River.
On the way to the clay lick, you will have an incredible opportunity to see mammals such as capybaras or ronsocos, also tapirs, deer and many times the largest South American feline, the jaguar, our clients are witnesses of beautiful encounters with this feline in danger of extinction.
Then we have our camping-style breakfast next to nature.
When we arrive at the parrots and macaws observation area we will settle in our saddles and wait for this natural bird show, once the activity is finished we will return by boat to the lodge, where they will serve you a delicious lunch.
Short break
We will hike in the beautiful jungle
Return to the lodge and transferred to the place from where you will begin your return to the city of Puerto Maldonado.
